Brunch

With H&M Home...

H&M Home has finally come to South Africa, and I had the pleasure of partnering with them to bring you some decor ideas for all your entertaining needs! I think it's a pretty well known fact that since moving into my new space, I have been pretty decor obsessed! I'm lucky that the space I have now, perfectly matches my tastes and aesthetic sensibilities, which forms the perfect backdrop for interior excellence! The space is bright and airy with lots of open white spaces, and dark details to create an interesting visual experience. With the new range of H&M Home products, I was able to curate a brunch experience for some of my friends and colleagues, well those who weren't at Oppi, that perfectly suited the style of my home. Below, you will find some of the recipes I prepared, Some that my talented foodies mom prepared, as well as some of my favourite picks from the offering!

On The Grill

With ceramics

Ceramics in darker shades of grey like charcoal and hints of black, make for an interesting contrast to bright food, in particular veggies. I like to use these as accents and highlights to spruse up my usual white dinner set. Displayed on these plates, are a variety of grilled veggies. sounds very simple, but grilled veggies, when done right and seasoned well, can be a taste sensation! Brush your veggies with Olive Oil, Salt, and a variety of herbs; I like to use Thyme, Rosemary, Paprika and Garlic. Make sure each of your veggies has something different on it, and if you're really a foodie, Basil Pesto, Prego Sauce and Sundried Tomato Paste are fun marinades for your grilled veg selection. Let them crisp up a little on the outside and get those beautiful grill lines, to highlight the gorgeous dinner set you are displaying them on. Beautiful plates make for beautiful food!

This simple salad is made from Figs, Rocket, Burratta and Rocket! For a little extra flare and zest, add grilled Peaches to your salad and drizzle with Balsamic reduction, instantly more fancy than the way it sounds! It's completely delicious as is, and as a vegetarian, I left out the classic addition of Prosciutto, but if that's your vibe, go ahead and layer that onto the Rocket before you add everything else. It's a simple but vibrant recipe that is a tried and tested crowd pleaser, displayed here in a fab wooden serving bowl by H&M Home, accented by the gold salad spoons which make an elegant highlight on any table. Wood is a huge feature in my home, so it's a joy to be able to bring that to the table in a way that is clean and minimalist in way that let's the food shine, without fading into the table.

At The Bar

Glasswear to match

Glassware is often overlooked when setting a table. We are so accustomed to glasses being clear, that we often miss the opportunity to experiment! H&M Home not only has a range of clear glassware with a twist, think gold rims and art deco shapes, but also a range of stained glass that ranges from glasses to vases. i went with statement vases for center-pieces and accents, but also tried something new with the range of black stained glassware for drinks. don't be afraid to make an impact witht the details!

Modern Classics

Plates and Bowls

The above mini frittatas are made with Feta and Fresh Spinach and baked in a muffin tray to create these compact mini egg frittata, because scrambled eggs are hard to serve en masse. This recipe is one of my mom’s specialities which she prepared specially for this brunch!
