AW17 FIRST EDITION
Featured in the March issue of Elle Magazine South Africa
The First Edition February collection is all about the latest fashion trends mixed back with the coolest street wear styles.
Taking inspiration from the international runways, the palette is strong and feminine, Bright Red is the key colour surround with silvers, gold and Black and white.
Silhouettes are modern and surprising as you can find a big cozy soft mohair oversized jumper matching back with a luxurious silver satin skirt cut on the bias. In the same lux satin we find “the perfect tee” shaped top and simple dress, making the satin very young and fashion forward.
The most iconic outfit is the bright Red silk long sleeve shirt with long tie detail worn with ‘up cycled’ jeans that are of the moment. These jeans take direct inspiration form the Cult Label “Vetements” where we have cut and sewn together 2 pairs of jeans to make the coolest piece to add to her wardrobe. Our girl can also outfit this with the Traina Trench which is in a stretch fabric so it can be perfectly fitted on the body.
The sharpness of the Chiara Pant balances out the asymmetric styles you can find in the collection such as the Lucy Asymmetric top or the Camille Dress.
All the pieces in this collection are born to be special and we present original shapes and fits such as the Lauren Tunic in a gold knit and the modern slightly dropped crotch Blair Pant in Milk White. Everything will bring chicness to every girl!
Ants Gallery in Parkhurst is one of my favourite lifestyle spaces in Johannesburg. In a prime location, it boats tons of natural light and an array of wonderful gift ideas for the purveyor of fine trinkets. You can find everything from screen prints and candles, to scarves and cushions, attend exhibitions and even garden parties, in this warm versatile space.
Look 1 – Black top, Blair Pants in milk white
Black and white is a core colour combination that resonates across trends, seasons and age. Give this classic look an edgy modern feel with the slightly dropped crotch Blair Pant in milk white. Incorporating a mix of textures into your look keeps it fresh and interesting, the velvet ankle strap block heel and ribbed long sleeve update the simplicity of the overall styling of this timeless classic pair of trousers.
Look 2 – Mohair sweater, Lauren Tunic in gold knit
Mohair is such a luxurious knit, and in the soft pastel palette, it is an easy piece to style. Use the Lauren Tunic in gold knit as an interesting layering piece to give your cozy sweater some dimension and fun. This combination works over an A Line skirt or tailored trouser, for a chic twist on a cold weather staple.
Agog Gallery is an edgy multi use gallery space in the heart of the Maboneng Precinct, a district known for it’s vibrant art and culture scene. The space boats a rooftop bar with gorgeous city views, and an open plan gallery floor with an industrial New York City feel, displaying larger than life displays of local talent. Check it out for a taste of culture in the city, or just pop in for a look at their extensive wine list.
Look 3 – Lucy Asymmetric top, red stiletto
Bold shapes are a key trend pillar for this season; the Lucy asymmetric top in white is a chic iteration of a funky cut. Pair it with a well tailored black trouser so the shape stands out, and add a pop of colour in your shoes for a surprising twist on an elegant look.
Look 4 – Red silk top, up cycled jeans
Red is the most striking key trends of the season. Use it as a small accent in a look, or as the eye-catching hero piece. This silk blouse is delicate and feminine, even though the colour is vibrant, so dress it down and edge it up with another key trend of the season, the edgy, patchwork denim. The look is young and fun without losing the core strength of the trends. Neutralize the palette with a softer third piece, I’ve used a classic trench, but a black blazer would achieve the same essence.
